For my plot I decided to try and recreate my favourite track, Ghost Valley 1 from the original Super Mario Kart on the SNES.

The karts make two loops of the circuit with the second loop taking in the short cut. Items are available from the yellow squares.

I've also added a SNES controller and a small Mario level connecting the kart station and the station for the Boo roller coaster.
