The North Pole is a Christmas-themed tourist attraction built around the grounds of a former research facility in the middle of a large mass of ice that’s approximately where the earth’s north pole is. In 1978, the US government began building some sort of top secret scientific research facility whose purpose to this day is unknown to the public. The project was abandoned, and the land was later bought by Busch Entertainment (now SeaWorld Entertainment) in 1995 and converted into the tourist attraction The North Pole that opened the next year. Several rides were added over the years, the most recent addition being a brand new Intamin blitz coaster, Rabid Reindeer.
