Innsmouth Funland was always haunted. Building an entertainment center next to a graveyard will tend to invite rumors like that. From the day the park opened, there were tall tales of strange lights, otherworldly screams, and rides operating when no one was around. The park found moderate success on the back of the urban legend, to the point that most people knew it by its semi-official nickname, "Ouija Boardwalk." Inevitably, though, the mystique wore off, and the park soon met its demise at the hand of low guest turnout.

The boardwalk has sat derelict for years. Battered by wind and waves, most of the pier has crumbled into the sea, but a few sturdy rides remain. The park's signature coaster, the Flying Dutchman, still stands, and one of its trains is still dormant in storage. But tonight, the park is back from the dead, and something else is riding the rails.
