Hockenheimring by markieboy

This entry is heavily inspired by the Hockenheimring, host to multiple memorable F1 races. In particular the configuration used up until 2001. A combination of long straights through the forest and a stadium section with more corners where all the spectators can watch the race.
Made for a unique challenge to the drivers, high top- and average speeds as well as good television. But all the action happens in the forest, part of the track inaccessible to the fans. Combining this with a high lap time, this wasn’t ideal for the fans visiting the event. Hence the redesign for the 2002 season.

But what if the old layout was maintained? What if the organizers would have looked at other options for the track to remain attractive to visit?
In my interpretation the organizers decided to offer the fans more to do, next to the racing. A rollercoaster was build, over 2km long, following parts of the race track, reaching speeds of over 120km/h. The coaster was named “Weltmeister”, in honor of German sporting legend and one of the best F1 drivers to ever do the sport Michael Schumacher.
After his initial retirement in 2006 a museum was built close to the entry of the stadium section. Here, among others, Schumachers 7 championship winning cars are on display.
