There once was a small scenic railway running along a small quarry. But one day the coupling with the locomotive broke, right before a sharp turn. The single locomotive had no problem making the turn but the passenger cars shoot off the tracks right on to the old dilapidated tracks that where once used for the quarry.

To make sure this can not happen again they could make the couplings better. But instead they gave the old tracks a single guiderail so the trains could make the jumps and would not crash and explode again.
