Stage 1
The Wolf River Campground was built in 1967, in the scenic forest around part of the Wolf River. With a hiking trail, picnic grove, and space for RVs as well as tents, the campground was off to a good start. However, after a regional airport was built only a few miles away in 1976, the plane noise made it much less appealing as a camping destination. This led to the campground being forced to shut down a few years later. As the buildings began to fall into disrepair, a group of investors saw a new future for the site: an amusement park. The land was bought, the buildings were fixed up, and a few traveling rides were installed. It’s now 1983, the newly christened Wolf River Park’s opening season. Enjoy your visit to the park!
