DKMP stands for Deurklink Multiplayer, and is a community that was founded by Deurklink in 2018. DKMP is mostly based around the game OpenRCT2. Most of the activity for DKMP takes place on Deurklink's Youtube channel and on the Discord Server. DKMP Started with just an OpenRCT2 Multiplayer Server where each player gets a small square in a map where they have to build something according to a certain theme, but this has been expanded with several more contest types! If you like playing old games like Rollercoaster Tycoon, but you don't like playing alone or you don't like playing with a goal, try joining one of our contests!
One thing that sets DKMP apart from other Rollercoaster Tycoon communities is that for most of our contests, we only allow players to use non-custom objects from RCT1, RCT2 and its expansions. We also allow custom recolourable versions of these objects. Using this limited set of objects usually allows players to quickly get accustomed to our contests, which makes it easier for players to improve their skills in OpenRCT2. Deurklink has also uploaded many tutorials on Youtube.
Deurklink is a video and content creator for OpenRCT2. He started playing Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 and 2 at a young age when the games came out and kept playing RCT2 for periods in the coming years. One thing that could be quite frustrating about playing RCT2 on a modern PC was the error trappers that sometimes would randomly crash the game. While looking for a solution, Deurklink discovered OpenRCT2 around 2017.
First he started playing a bit on his own, then he discovered the OpenRCT2 forums. There he joined several group parks and other activities. At some point he came up with the idea of Multiplayer Plots, where 16 players each get a small piece of land on a map, and they have to build something according to a certain theme. He then became an admin on the Discord server Rollercoasters and Friends where he continued to run his server. After several months, Deurklink created his own community called DKMP.
Deurklink has also done some modifications in the OpenRCT2 code, and sometimes helps out with testing new changes and reporting issues.
Under Contest Parks you will find all the parks that were created for the different types of DKMP Contests. It will list the creator(s) and the score that the park has been given by the members of the community. You are also able to download the parks, view a screenshot, and if the creator of the park submitted a story you can also read it here.
Ride Creation Contest: A monthly contest where players have to create a certain kind of ride.
Mini Contest: A short contest where players have to create something on a small map.
Park Creation Contest: A six-month contest where players have to create a big park.
Title Sequence Contest: A contest where players create a park for the official OpenRCT2 Title Sequence, that plays in the background when you open the game.
Multiplayer Server: A contest where each players gets a small plot of land to build something on the DKMP multiplayer server.
Timeline Park Contest: A discontinued contest where players would create a park over the course of a year, adding a new episode every month.
Showcase parks are parks that were not created for one of the contests. These are usually group parks created together by many people, or parks that were made by a single player over a long time duration. For a park to be included in the Showcase Parks, it should be an impressive park of a high standard, and it should mostly only use non-custom objects or DKSO objects. Deurklink's older parks and Deurklink's Youtube parks can all also be found under Showcase Parks.
DKSO objects are recolourable versions of base game objects. For example a normal tree usually has a brown stem with green leaves, but the same tree in the DKSO object set can be recoloured to any of the available colours in OpenRCT2. All the allowed DKSO objects have been conveniently made available in a Workbench. The DKSO workbench can be found on the rules page for the contests in which it is allowed! To use the workbench, simply place it in your save file folder and open it in OpenRCT2.
To send in a park for a contest, first make sure it follows all the rules for the contest. The rules can be found on the rules page for the contest. Also, make sure that all unused custom objects are disabled! For instructions on how to disable unused custom objects, look here. If your park file size is more than a few MB, you probably still have unused custom objects enabled.
After this, go to the DKMP Discord server, and right-click Deurklink's profile and select Message. This will allow you to send Deurklink a Direct Message. Paste your park file here. Google Drive or Dropbox links will not be accepted. If you want to include a story for the park, also simply paste it here. Do not send a text or Word file.
If you want to submit a showcase park, the process is pretty much the same. Make sure the park is of high quality and in a finished state.
You can contact Deurklink by joining the DKMP Discord, and typing your message in the appropriate channel. You can also leave a comment under any of the videos on Deurklink's Youtube channel.
